OnAllBands will be featuring a bevy of new DX Engineering branded products that will be making their debut in the upcoming 25th Anniversary Edition of the DX Engineering Amateur Radio Products Catalog, which will be available in May 2025.
These are all products designed, tested, and produced by the company’s own team—active hams who discover a need based on customer feedback (or something missing at their own stations) and get their hands dirty coming up with a solution.
This was the case with DX Engineering’s new Small Utility Enclosure Kit. Customers have found many uses for the popular DXE-UE-2P enclosure (13″ W x 14″ H x 4″ D, exterior dimensions) but requested a smaller version that would be more suitable for projects that didn’t require a larger enclosure. The result is the DXE-UE-1P—an enclosure with all the versatility of its bigger brother but with a smaller footprint (9.4″ W x 9.2″ H x 4″ D).
The enclosure is made from weather-resistant, high-impact thermoplastic, making it perfect for outdoor mounting of lightning protectors or other equipment. Its design ensures protection against rain and direct water spray. The thermoplastic housing and wire entrance materials are fire retardant, UV- stabilized, and resistant to degradation from environmental contaminants, chemical fertilizers, and insecticide sprays. Additionally, the housing can be painted with latex or oil-based paints to match the aesthetics of your home.
NOTE: The DXE-UE-1P accommodates coaxial protectors that have a flange-mount bracket—or those that work with an accessory bracket—to mount the connectors parallel with the grounding plate. Bulkhead mount protectors that place a connector through the grounding plate cannot be used.
The DXE-UE-1P Kit Includes:
- Weather-resistant enclosure
- Six stainless steel hex washer head slotted sheet metal screws
- Pre-drilled 6061-T6 aluminum mounting plate (8″ W x 4″ H)
- Two weather-tight coaxial cable feed-through couplers (DXE-CFT-2P) ideal for most RG6 or RG-8X sized coaxial cable
- Copper strap clamp with two drilled holes
- Four hex washer head slotted sheet metal screws
Since these enclosures have many potential applications, no holes have been pre-drilled in the enclosure itself.
The watertight feed-through couplers are mounted at the top of the enclosure. Cable entry and exit openings are located at the bottom of the enclosure and are sealed with a foam insert to protect the cables.
